EXPERIENCE
WHY HAKUBA?
While the Hakuba Valley when clothed in crystalline white is truly magical, in all the glory of summer green, pops of colour and sapphire lakes, the Valley is nothing short of spectacular!
Spring heralds the ephemeral prettiness of cherry blossom season, where your day can consist of snow sports in the morning then a quick trip to the Sea of Japan to indulge your senses in Sakura – cherry blossoms. Take a picnic and contemplate the beauty of nature surrounded by a canopy of pink and white.
Summer and Autumn are the times to blow out the cobwebs with mountain biking, hiking, canyoning, kayaking or fishing. If that sounds a little hectic take a lazy hot-air balloon ride to view the emerald covered fields against the soaring peaks of the Hakuba Valley.
With an elevation of 3,000m, the peaks of the Northern Alps mountain range draw hikers and climbers from all over the world. The Hakuba Valley is one of the 3 famous snow valleys of Japan and contains Japan’s largest alpine flower garden. After a day of hiking, soak in the natural splendor of the mountains in alpine hot springs, accessible only on foot. For beginner hikers, easy trails can be safely reached by ski lift, which run all summer long at some resorts. No matter what your age or skill level, everyone can enjoy the beauty of the Northern Alps throughout the whole year.
